Tech City London’s digital chiefs’ wish list is having a monorail connecting Old Street to Kings Cross and a network of tunnels underneath
According to a survey by careers site Dice, of 400 recruiters and tech bosses, Silicon Roundabout’s army of tech chiefs are keen to see an overhaul of the area to allow them to move around more easily.
Some 42% of those interviewed called for cycling and pedestrian overpasses – and underpasses – and 26% plumped for a monorail that connects Old Street to mainline stations.
A mobile map of the current network of passages under the roundabout was also suggested.
Shoreditch has been condemned over claims rising rents are deterring entrepreneurs from the area.
Notably, the idea of substituting Boris bikes with hover boards proved more popular than creating a tech work space in the centre of the roundabout.
The number of start-ups based there dropped by a third to 10,280 in the 12 months to March, according to UHY Hacker Young data.
In June, Boris Johnson agreed a £25 million refurbishment of the area with new pedestrianized areas and cycle lanes due to be completed in 2018.
