A search feature is now being introduced in Facebook that allows users to find public posts.
For a long time it’s been easy to track down pages, brands and people, but individual items shared on timelines and newsfeeds have been hidden effectively.
On the other hand, Facebook on Thursday publicized it was launching to roll out an update assisting users to search two trillion posts of the social network. UK users have to fix their language inclination to “English (US)”.
Tom Stocky, Facebook’s vice president of search, said in a blog post: “People often turn to Facebook to see how their friends and family are reacting when something happens in the world,.
“We’re updating Facebook Search today so that you can find out what the world is saying about topics that matter to you, in addition to family and friends.”
Professor Eszter Hargittai tweeted: “As FB rolls out search of posts, be ever more significant to be conscious of what you’re posting as ‘public’ on Facebook “, who works at the US’s Northwestern University for the Web Use Project research.
The change has been extensively seen as a direct challenge to Google and Twitter, fellow Silicon Valley giants.
It has also encouraged web experts to strain the prominence of users shielding their privacy.
